Just a bit about the ranch:
C-C stands for my brother, Chris and me, Carrilea. We started the original ranch in 1998. It has since grown, thru my marriage, into two locations. Currently we run a few feeder calves, raise border collies, and the occasional foal. We feed out the calves every summer to put beef on our table and to keep the grass mowed.
My husband, Stacy Wilson, and I both work a full-time jobs and work the Courtland ranch on the side. Stacy and I both were raised on farms and grew up with all the normal farm animals. We both enjoy the farm life and wouldn’t trade it for anything. We would love for the ranch to pay for itself but so far that hasn’t happened. Horses are my heart and soul but we haven’t been able to make them pay for themselves so our jobs pay for that hobby. The cattle graze so that we don’t have to bush-hog and they bring in a small profit. Our border collies serve two purposes. We will never be without a dog as a pet and companion but they are also very valuable to us as partners. They help us work the sheep/goats and calves for vaccinations, de-wormings, and hoof trims. There is only so much you can do with a feed bucket and the dogs make the cattle so much easier to handle as they learn that the safest place to be is with people.
