Just thoughts that come as I ride:
You either have life by the horns or by the tail. I prefer the view from the horns!
Just because I don’t know where I am, does NOT mean I am lost.
-How you approach life makes all the difference! 90% of communication is body language/tone, doesn’t matter what the words are. Why is it so hard for us to communicate with horses who are 100% body language? We over think it and don’t realize what our body is saying. Example: Approaching a weanling, you need confidence but not aggression. The baby wants a strong, confident leader so it knows it is safe and can trust your judgement of what it should be scared of. If you approach the weanling like you are scared to move (scared you are going to make it run away/freak out), then it is reading your body language that there is something to be afraid of, therefore it is jumpy an looking for a booger. Instead, walk up to the foal with confidence, not fast and hard but just confident. The foal will understand that you are not afraid and it can lean on you with its uncertainty.
